Case study summary
Our client was a 17-year-old student who had been stopped with others in a car which had been reported stolen. Our lawyers made the correct tactical decisions to ensure the case was dropped.
Case study
After getting into trouble when he was younger, our client had started to attend college and was rebuilding his life. When he was arrested on suspicion of stealing a car, he was very concerned that this could put all of his hard work at risk. Therefore, he instructed our specialist criminal defence lawyers to represent him at the police station.
A member of the public had phoned the police to say that his car had been stolen by a group of young people. The police stopped this car later the same day and five young people, including our client, were found inside.
Our lawyers attended the police station and liaised with the police. It was very clear that the police had highly limited evidence as the man who reported the theft was not willing to provide a statement. The correct approach was for our client to make no comment in his interview. This left the police with no choice but to drop the case.
