Case study summary
Our client was subjected to a Terrorism Order following convictions for terrorism and was arrested for alleged breaches. He instructed our specialist solicitors and we represented him. After relying on a carefully constructed statement, the police took no further action.
Case study
Our client was a young man with previous convictions for suspected terror offences. He was subjected to an onerous Prevention Order which we were in the process of challenging in the High Court. He was arrested for alleged breaches of the Order and we attended to represent him in interview.
Whilst the police must, of course, treat these matters with the utmost severity, it quickly became apparent that the police were using this as an opportunity to intimidate our client. We attended the police station and queried the police's approach to our client's arrest and whether everything done was absolutely necessary.
We took detailed instructions from our client and carefully constructed a detailed prepared statement to put forward in his interview. We urged the police to complete urgent forensic analysis overnight. Once this analysis was complete, the police agreed to take no further action against our client as they could not prove an intentional breach.
This was a complex allegation involving an autistic client facing serious allegations. He was particularly pleased to be released so he is able to continue challenging the Order in the High Court.
