Case study summary
Our client was an elderly lady arrested as part of a conspiracy to supply class A and B drugs, as well as firearms and ammunition. This was a large police operation in which everyone pleaded not guilty. We secured the only not guilty verdict after trial.
Case study
Our client was an elderly lady accused of storing Class A and B drugs in her house, as well as ammunition in her garden shed. She had no previous convictions and the whole system was entirely alien to her. She was in a constant state of panic from her arrest through to her trial.
This was a large scale police operation which involved multiple arrests. Our client was one of two women charged and accused of knowingly allowing their houses to be used as storage for the drugs and weapons. Our client was facing a lengthy immediate prison sentence if she was found guilty.
We prepared the case extensively and insisted on full disclosure of electronic material. We instructed a specialist barrister to represent her at court and secured the only not guilty verdict from the jury. The remaining defendants were subsequently sentenced to 12, 10 and 8 years in prison.
Our client was absolutely over the moon with the result and could not be happier. She can return to her partner and life without such a serious allegation hanging over her head.
