Case study

Our client was charged with others in relation to a conspiracy to supply class A drugs. Heavy sentences were handed out, but our client received a shorter sentence due to his plea and a basis that was put in. However, the Judge made an error when sentencing the client as he calculated the credit for the guilty plea incorrectly.

The legal team immediately noticed this error and wrote directly to the Judge requesting that the case be listed under the 'slip rule' provisions.

Although the error made only a matter of months difference, our client will now be released before Christmas, rather than in late January, so will be able to see his family over the holidays.
