Case study summary

We defended a father of two who was wrongly accused of rape. We took extensive instructions and carefully drafted a prepared statement. This left the police with no choice but to drop the case.

Case study

Our client was a father with two young children. He was very distressed as these were historic allegations and he had separated from his ex-partner a number of years ago.

His ex-partner had falsely alleged that he had raped her on two occasions. The complainant was harassing our client by sending text messages to his current fiance and sister. We immediately contacted the officer in the case and asked that the complainant cease contact.

At the police station, we took extensive instructions and carefully drafted his defence into a prepared statement. This ensured that our client’s defence was clearly put forward without exposing him to difficult police interview tactics.

After advancing his defence in interview, the police decided to take no further action and drop the case entirely.
