Case study
Our client, a successful US National Business Partner, was enjoying an evening out when he met the complainant. They returned to his hotel room after they had a few drinks, as she asked to use the toilet and charge her phone. They proceeded to have sexual intercourse and parted ways afterwards.
Our client was arrested on the allegation that he had raped the complainant, however it was apparent that the complainant had consented to sexual activity. According to our client, within minutes of entering the room, she had removed her clothing and became very flirtatious with him.
Our client was extremely nervous during the process and feared the prospect of this investigation escalating to court and the irreparable damage it would cause him and his family.
With the legal advice provided by one of our criminal defence lawyers, the police made the decision to close the case with no further action taken against our client. Our client was relieved with the outcome and was happy to return to his successful career and family life.
