Case study
Our client was a professional man accused of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour against his wife since their daughter was born. The case stemmed from the complainant's OCD and PTSD and he was accused of not supporting her through this both physically and financially.
Our client was of the view that the complainant was making these allegations up to get back at him for leaving the family home as he simply could not cope anymore. He had reached out for help with his mental health, both from the police and a men's health charity. Both of these failed him.
They also had a young daughter at the centre of Family Court proceedings. This was a sensitive case with a technical defence so we instructed a specialist barrister to present the case in the right way at court.
The jury returned a Not Guilty verdict, exonerating our client completely. Our client can focus on the Family Court case without the worry of a criminal case hanging over him.
