Case study
We were instructed to represent a young woman, who was in very poor mental health and struggling with a disability. Our client was shocked when she was arrested for allegedly stealing from her sister.
The sister stated that he had transferred our client £200 by accident, she only meant to send her £20. She stated that our client had then refused to send her the money back.
Our client explained that this simply was not true. Upon her sister telling her about the error, she withdraw the rest of the money and gave it back to her. This could clearly be supported by bank records. In interview, our specialist criminal defence lawyers put forward our client’s defence in a prepared statement. This meant our client avoided the stress of having to answer the police questions whilst being able to put her defence across in an effective manner. This persuaded the Crown Prosecution Service not to charge and the case was dropped.
Our client was very relieved that and can now focus on her health without this case hanging over her head.
