Case study summary

Our client was a Data Analyst accused of hitting his son and causing grievous bodily harm. He completely denied the allegations and requested our expert advice and representation. Within 7 weeks the police dropped the investigation.

Case study

Our client was a professional man who had never been in any trouble before. An allegation had been made by an outside party that he had hit his son, and he was arrested for Causing Grievous Bodily Harm contrary to s.20 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

He had never been in a situation like this before and was in complete shock we he was arrested and taken to the police station to be interviewed. He used the duty solicitor initially but contacted our firm soon after he was released. He completely denied the allegation and due to the impact this would have on his work, he decided that he required specialist representation and we were instructed to assist with his case and advise him for the investigation process.

We quickly gathered as much information as possible and went through this with him in detail to decide on the best strategy moving forward. Following our engagement with the police and expert advice on how to proceed at various steps in the process, the investigation was dropped with no further action taken.

Our client was able to return to his family and continue with his career without any further impact.
