Case study summary
Our client was distraught when she approached our firm to represent her at a police interview, after her mother accused her of defrauding her. We represented her at this interview and the police decided to drop the case shortly afterwards.
Case study
We were approached by our client soon after she was contacted, out of the blue, by a police officer demanding that she attend a voluntary interview the next day. Our client was distraught about the allegation as she had been caring for her elderly mother and her late father for many years.
She explained that she denied the allegation wholeheartedly and we began preparing specialist representations to fight the claim that she was using her mother's debit card to withdraw and misuse funds.
We immediately engaged with the officer in the case and arranged for the interview to be rescheduled so that we had time to control the case and prepare mitigation.
The police ultimately chose to take no further action after they realised that they had no effective evidence to prove their case.
This meant that our client was able to move on and focus on her life and family.
