Case study summary
Our client was interviewed in relation to an allegation of punching his four-year-old son.
We attended the police station interview with him and our advice led to the police taking no further action.
Case study
Our client contacted us to represent him at an interview under caution after he was accused, by his ex-partner's new husband, of punching his four-year-old son.
Our client was shocked and upset by this and explained that he would never have done this and that physical punishment was not how he had raised any of his children.
We attended the interview where the investigating officer explained that a report had been made that our client had assaulted his son by punching him. We reviewed the police evidence and found that there was nothing to support the allegation.
We advised our client on the weakness of the police case and supported him through the interview procedure.
Following the interview the police were given no choice but to abandon their case and take no further action due to the weaknesses we identified.
Our client was a family man who took pride in how he cared for his children. He was devastated to learn that someone had accused him of mistreating his son, but was very happy to be able to move on from what was clearly an unfounded allegation.
