Case study summary

Our client was wrongly accused of Coercive and Controlling Behaviour against his ex-wife and two children. He came to us after his arrest as he did not feel confident in the legal representation he already had.

Case study

After being arrested on three separate occasions for allegations of Coercive and Controlling Behaviour, our client found himself at rock bottom and in the need of support. After instructing us as his legal team, we immediately contacted the three officers in charge of the investigations to ask for an update on their position.

We then had several conferences with the client so that he could put forward his point of view and this allowed him to feel heard and understood. Whilst asking for regular updates from the officers, we began drafting representations to the CPS which answered all of the allegations put to our client and at the same time rebutted them. We reviewed hundreds of messages and photos which clearly highlighted that the allegations were untrue and unfair and we included these in our representations.

We had regular communication with the officers in charge of the investigation and after consistently placing pressure on them, one by one, the three allegations were dropped. Our client was extremely overwhelmed and thanked us for believing in him and giving him his life back.
