Case study summary

Our client was invited to attend a voluntary police interview in relation to an alleged assault against his young son. We provided expert legal advice and representation which resulted in the investigation concluding promptly with a decision to not take the matter any further.

Case study

Our client was a father who had no previous involvement with the police. He was accused of slapping his young son following an incident in which the child was teasing his younger brother. The allegation was reported to the police and our client was invited for a voluntary interview. He was extremely nervous about this and called us for advice and support.

From the outset, our client denied the allegations. He maintained that he had never used physical violence as a form of disciple against his children. We provided expert legal advice and assisted our client with carefully preparing a detailed statement for his police interview. The statement clearly outlined his parenting approach, the events leading up to the allegation and his firm denial of any assault.

We attended the police station to represent our client and support him throughout the interview. Shortly after this, the police determined that there was insufficient evidence to prove the allegation. The case was closed with No Further Action taken. Our client was extremely pleased with this result.
