Case study summary

Our client attended a police interview after being accused of touching a child sexually. We represented him and carefully drafted a prepared statement which confirmed that he was innocent. In the end, the police informed our client that they would be taking no further action.

Case study

Our client found himself facing allegations of sexual assault made by his step-daughter. He was accused of touching her sexually whilst her mother was sleeping in the next room. We were instructed to represent our client at his police interview.

We discussed the allegation with our client and he strongly denied it. The allegation was particularly distressing for him as he had considered himself to be a father-figure to the complainant.

At the police station, we identified the weakness in the police case and explained the interview procedure thoroughly to our client. We then provided expert legal advice and worked with him to carefully draft a prepared statement which allowed him to put forward his account at the earliest opportunity and confirmed that he was innocent.

Following the interview, we continued to liaise with the police to ensure that they were reviewing and investigating the matter properly. After less than two months, the police decided that they would be taking no further action in this matter.
