Case study summary
Our client was a young woman charged with possession of a dangerous dog that was not in fact hers. She had no previous convictions and was a stranger to court proceedings. We were able to ensure the prosecution discontinued the case at the Magistrates' Court.
Case study
Our seventeen year old client was pressured into taking ownership of a dangerous dog, wrongfully promised by the police that this would save the animal's life. Extremely anxious and a complete stranger to court, she came to us seeking help.
We attended the Magistrates' Court with the intention of making it known that this young woman had been taken advantage of and wrongfully charged. Our advocate spoke with the prosecuting lawyer and ensured they were aware this dog did not belong to our client and instead, her co-defendant.
It was a result of our clear and firm advocacy that this case was dropped in its entirety. Our client was about to leave full-time education with aspirations to become a nurse and, thankfully, she would not have to consider a criminal conviction when applying for employment later in life.
