Case study summary
We were approached by our client's father after he received a sentencing date at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court in relation to a charge of dangerous driving and failing to stop for the police.
Thanks to our careful preparation our client received a suspended sentence.
Case study
Our client was a twenty-year-old man who led the police on a thirty minute long chase through Manchester after police spotted him speeding.
This chase involved driving at speed - including reaching over 100 miles per hour, ignoring give way signs and red lights, weaving through traffic, driving in the wrong lanes, and several near collisions.
Police were finally able to end the chase using a stinger trap and our client was arrested for dangerous driving and failing to stop.
We were approached by our client's obviously concerned father to represent him. We took over the case immediately and prepared detailed mitigation about our client's work and promising career and future.
We also instructed an expert barrister, Ged Doran of Lincoln House Chambers, to represent our client at his sentencing hearing.
All of our hard work came together at the sentencing where, despite the case being so serious that the sentencing judge considered an immediate custodial sentence, our client received a suspended sentence.
He was able to go back to his work and move forward with his life after this particularly difficult period in his life.
