Case study summary

Our client was a father of two and worked full-time to support his family. He had no previous convictions and was shocked when he was arrested for harassment, after getting into a toxic relationship. Our specialist criminal defence lawyers ensured the case was swiftly dropped.

Case study

Our client was a full-time window cleaner. He had worked all of his life to support his two children. He had no previous convictions and he was terrified after being arrested by the police for harassment.

Our client had been accused of shouting abuse at this former partner. He explained that there had been a toxic relationship which often involved both sides shouting verbal abuse. Our client had recognised this and ended the relationship. He had never been in a toxic relationship before and was shocked to have found himself in this position. He was worried about the prosect of going to court and the risk of being convicted.

He was represented by our specialist criminal defence lawyers. When our lawyer arrived at the police station, they had to access the evidence against our client as it is always for the police to gather evidence to prove guilt. The former partner had initially reported the matter to the police but was refusing to support the case any further. In the absence of other evidence, our lawyer accessed that the case against our client was weak. The matter was likely to go no further, therefore the correct tactical decision was to say no comment.

This left the police with no choice but to drop the case. Our client was thrilled that this has resolved as he had avoided the stress of going to court and could now focus on providing for his family.
