Client accused of serious assault - Police Drop Case

Our client approached our firm after a calling card was left by police asking that he attend an interview.

We represented him at the interview and immediately recognised that the man seen in the CCTV footage was not our client. The police had no choice but to drop the case.

Our client's partner contacted our firm after a vague calling card was left by police asking for him to attend an interview. Our client did not know what this interview would be about and was understandably nervous that he would be accused of something he had not done.

We contacted the police on our client's behalf and made arrangements for the interview to be carried out. We also requested that the officer send the details of the accusation so that we could properly advise our client. The details provided by the officer indicated that this was in relation to a serious assault involving multiple people.

We explained this to the client and advised him fully on the process at this stage.

During the interview, CCTV was shown to our lawyer who immediately identified that the man shown was not our client.

The officer had no choice but to immediately take no further action in the case as it was clear our client had been wrongfully suspected.

In spite of the confusion and unnecessary involvement with the police our client was able to return to his normal life without any fear of being investigated for this.
