Our client was the manager of a care home and was accused of overseeing the neglect and ill-treatment of patients. We carefully advised her in detail at every point of the investigation process. The police eventually confirmed that no charges would be brought against her.

Our client was a registered nurse who had a long-established career in the healthcare profession and had even received awards for her contributions to the NHS.

An allegation had been made against her by a former employee in the care home she managed, and she was contacted by the police and informed that there was an ongoing criminal investigation against her.

She was shocked and terrified by this news, having never had any dealings with the police in her entire life. She was a well-respected healthcare professional who had never had any complaints in years of practice.

We contacted the police to request advanced disclosure as quickly as possible so that this could be considered well before the day of the interview. We then took detailed instructions from our client and drafted a carefully prepared statement to be read out to the police at the beginning of the interview. This was with a view to directing the police along lines of enquiry that we said would demonstrate that our client was innocent.

We were later informed that no further action would be taken against our client, which meant that her clean record and good name remained intact, and she avoided any court proceedings completely.
