MMS client receives caution from the CPS after assault

We represented this client after he was charged with a minor assault against a police officer.

At the first court hearing the prosecution were persuaded to direct the police to issue a caution. Our client accepted this and was able to leave without a full criminal conviction.

Case study

Our client was a young man with a promising career ahead of him awaiting the results of his university exams. While on a night out his friends became involved in a fight and, while trying to comfort one of his friends after they were punched in the face, our client was accused by a police officer of pushing them causing them to have to take a step back.

Police further stated that our client had apologised to the officer soon after the incident.

Despite how minor the assault was, and our client's apology, the police chose to charge him with assaulting a police officer.

He then instructed us to represent him during the case. We analysed the prosecution evidence and advised our client as to his options at court.

At the first hearing at the Magistrates' Court, the prosecutor was persuaded by our expert lawyer that this case did not need to result in a full criminal conviction.

The CPS then directed the police to issue a caution, which our client accepted. He was able to return to his life without the stress and anxiety of a criminal case or conviction weighing on him.
