Case study summary

Our client was arrested and accused of domestic assault. She used the duty solicitor in interview and then instructed our firm soon after. We began work on her case straight away and within 10 days, the police confirmed they would take no further action against her.

Case study

Our client was a young woman in the early stages of her career working in the NHS. She had never been in trouble before and her career was dependant on having a clean criminal record.

An allegation was made that she had assaulted her partner and she was arrested and interviewed at the police station. She had never experienced anything like this before and was understandably scared and frightened by the situation.

Having used the duty solicitor when first arrested, she contacted our office to discuss what to do next and the best course of action. She made the decision to instruct our firm as quickly as possible, as she was under a lot of stress about the impact this would have on her work and her mental health.

We gathered all information from her as quickly as possible and carefully prepared a detailed letter of representations to the police, setting out the reasons as to why our client should not be charged.

The police confirmed that no further action would be taken and the investigation was closed. Our client was very happy and relieved, as she was able to continue her career caring for others. She told us that she had originally felt afraid and lost but this stopped as soon as she made the decision to instruct us to represent her.
