Case study summary
Our client was accused by his former partner of causing actual bodily harm to his six-year-old daughter by hitting her leg. We represented him at a voluntary interview and carefully put his account to the police and persuaded them to take No Further Action in the case.
Case study
Our client had separated from his partner and was jointly caring for their daughter. He noticed that his daughter had bruising on her leg when he collected her from his partner. Our client told both the police and Social Services that he had seen bruising on his daughter after she had been in his partner's care for four days.
Our client's partner had also told him about the bruising before his daughter was passed into his care.
Despite this his former partner was not being considered a suspect and had been asked by police to provide a statement in support of the investigation.
At the interview we engaged with the information provided by the police and advised our client as to the case against him. We then listened to his side and our expert lawyer carefully drafted a prepared statement putting forward our client's account to the police.
Following persistent chasing and engagement with the police they were forced to take No Further Action in the case due to the clear evidence that our client was not responsible for the injuries his daughter had sustained.
Our client was therefore able to return to caring for his children and could move on from this unfounded accusation.
