Care Worker Accused of Child Abuse – No Further Action

Our client was employed as a carer in a children’s home. He was shocked when he was wrongly accused of raping a teenage girl who lived at the home. Our specialist sexual offence lawyers made the correct tactical decisions to ensure the case was dropped.

Our client was a student who was working part-time in a residential children’s home to fund his studies. Whilst working in the home, one of the teenage girls started to make sexual comments to him, writing cards and sending letters too. Our client correctly made management aware of this issue, sent them all of the cards and deflected all of her advances. Unhappy with our client’s response, the girl contacted the police and alleged that our client had raped her.

This situation needed handling very sensitively, the young girl who made this complaint had a very chaotic upbringing and had been removed from her parent's care.

This allegation was clearly fals. It had been made by a very vulnerable young person when our client had rightly stopped her advances.

Our lawyers wrote a detailed prepared statement with our client. This set out that these allegations were clearly false and explained the relevant background, we also directed the officers to relevant lines of enquiry. This statement was read out in the interview and left the police with no choice but to close the case.

Our client has since graduated from University and can start his professional career without this case hanging over him.
