Case study summary

Our client was a student and loving father. He was shocked after his former partner accused him of assault following an argument. The police arrested him, despite a lack of evidence, but we ensured the case was dropped within a few days of the interview.

Case study

We were contacted by a father after he was arrested. He was accused of assaulting his former partner following an argument. He was terrified as being accused of this offence placed his whole life on hold.

A former partner had made the allegation. The former partner alleged that our client had slapped her across the face after an argument. There were no documented injuries to support the case against our client and the police could not even guarantee that the complainant would support the allegation if the case went further. The complainant's version of events had also changed multiple times, which called her memory into question.

Our specialist criminal defence lawyers represented the client in interview and served a prepared statement stating that he was not guilty of the offence. We followed this up by conducting all communication with the police. We left the police no choice but to drop the case without referring it to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Our client was extremely relieved he was free to resume his life once again.
