Case study
Our client was a young working man with no previous convictions but found himself in a position where he was being accused of a serious sexual offence, rape. Our client came to us to represent him in his voluntary interview. We took the time to have an in-depth discussion with our client before the interview to get a full understanding of his defense. Through these communications it became apparent that our client not only completely denies the offence, but had reported the complainant to the police months prior for harassment and sexual assault. We advised the client that the best approach would be to prepare a prepared statement to ensure this full account was put forward. We presented a full and robust statement on his behalf.
Following the interview, we made sure to keep in constant communication with the police so we can keep the client updated throughout the investigation. We ensured the police had access to text messages from our client which supports his denial of raping the complainant.
Because of the detailed explanation we put forward, and ensuring this evidence was available to the investigating officers, the police decided to take no further action in relation to this allegation. Our client was free to move on free the stress of this investigation.
