Case study summary

Our client was a single father of four whose former partner had made clearly malicious rape accusations. He was terrified about the impact this could have on his family. Our specialist sexual offence lawyers made the right decisions to ensure the case was dropped.

Case study

We were approached by a father of four who had been struggling through a bitter breakup. His former partner had a history of substance misuse and had been abusing him. With support from social services, he ended the relationship and was solely looking after their four children. Social services were so concerned about his former partner’s manic behaviour that they even obtained a court order preventing her from having contact with the children

Angry at social services and our client, his former partner was making increasingly serious malicious accusations against him. When his former partner made a false rape allegation, our client was very worried about the impact this could have on his family and instructed our specialist sexual offence lawyers to represent him.

During the interview, our lawyers drafted a carefully worded prepared statement setting out the background to this case and making it clear that this allegation was fabricated. The police agreed to drop the case without even referring it to the Crown Prosecution Service for a charging decision. Our client was very relieved that this case was brought to a close so quickly and he can return to focusing on caring for his children.
