Client receives fine for possession of Class A drugs

Our client reached out to us after he was stopped by police and found to be in possession of a number of bags of cocaine on his way back from a festival. He was not represented during his initial interview and was terrified of the possible outcomes. He came to our specialist lawyers for help.

We took a detailed account of his circumstances leading up to the offence as well as his background and his plans for the future. Our client wanted to get his life back on track so he could support his wife and return to work again.

He had been being kicked out by his parents and was struggling with substance abuse because of his strained living situation and the difficult relationship he had with his family. We drafted careful mitigation documents to demonstrate to the court that he had been struggling through a difficult time and needed support and an opportunity to change rather than a prison sentence.

At his first appearance at the Magistrates' Court he pleaded guilty and our expert advocate was able to make representations on his behalf during the hearing. Having heard our submissions, the court decided to hand him a low-level fine. He is now able to support his family and begin rebuilding his life.
