Case study summary
We represented a 72 year old man charged with viewing indecent images. He fully accepted the allegations but had never been in any trouble his entire life. We prepared detailed mitigation on his behalf and instructed an expert barrister. He was sentenced to a 24 Community Order.
Case study
Our client was a retired teacher who had a long and unblemished career. Following retirement, isolation in lockdown and personal health difficulties, he viewed indecent images on the internet and was subsequently interviewed and charged by the police.
He was very remorseful and terrified by the prospect of a possible prison sentence. We took detailed instructions regarding his background history so that we were able to present his character to the court and demonstrate there was no risk of him reoffending in the future.
After hearing mitigation from our carefully selected barrister, the court was convinced to move away from a prison sentence completely (not even a suspended sentence) and he was given a 24 month Community Order. Our client was extremely happy and relieved that he could start to move forward with his life.
