Police Drop Case against Youth Sharing Indecent Images

Our client's mother called our firm when the police visited her son and accused him of sharing an indecent video on Snapchat. Social services attended as our client had younger siblings and his mother was distraught. Our client admitted to the social worker that if the video was found on his Snapchat, then he must be guilty of it.

We represented him in interview and spoke to the police at length about the strength of the evidence and the public interest to prosecute this case. It soon became apparent that neither of these factors were strong.

Our client refused to answer questions in his interview and we put the police to prove that he was responsible for sharing the video. The police agreed that their case was weak since they found no evidence to corroborate the allegation on our client's devices. They decided to take no further action and the investigation was closed.

Our client and his whole family are delighted with the result. Our client can continue studying without the burden of a police investigation hanging over him.
