Case study summary

Our client instructed us after she was asked to attend a police interview. Medical staff at a hospital accused her of a violent domestic assault on her partner when he came in for unrelated reasons. Within six hours of the interview, the police took No Further Action.

Case study

We were contacted by our client to attend a voluntary interview with police after she was accused of a serious domestic assault by a third party.

She had recently given birth to her first child and was understandably nervous and upset by the prospect of a drawn out investigation.

We engaged with the police officer at the interview and picked apart the case. Crucially it was noted that there was no statement from the alleged victim of the case and the police had no evidence to support their case.

The police had no choice but to accept that there was no case and the accusation had no evidence as it was made by someone who could not have possibly known what happened.

After leaving the interview with our client the police resigned themselves to take No Further Action within hours. Our client was able to return to her life and her newborn child without the worry of a criminal investigation hanging over her.
