Case study summary

Our client was a proud family man, who owned a popular local business. He was devastated after being accused of raping a former employee. Our specicalist rape defence lawyers took proactive steps to get the case dropped.

Case study

We were instructed to represent our client after an investigation was launched by the police, when a former employee accused him of rape. He was loved by his family and a pillar of his community and could not believe that someone had made these allegations. He had devoted his life to building a very popular local business, which was now at risk.

The employee stated that he had been anally raped multiple times by our client. The employee claimed this occurred 30 years ago.

Our client explained this simply was not true. We successfully persuaded the police to provide extensive disclosure, which detailed the whole accusation of the complainant. Our specialist lawyers quickly realised this allegation was unfounded. The allegation was made completely out of the blue and after such a long period of time had passed. It was also very vague and without hard evidence.

We successfully put our client's story, in the form of written representations, to the police. This relieved our client of any further interactions with them. These representations persuaded the police to take no further action against our client and the investigation was dropped.

Our client, whilst distraught about the allegations, has been able to return to his wife and business without the stigma of this investigation hanging over his head.
