Case study summary

We were approached by our client's father after his son was asked to attend a police interview.

We engaged with the police case and found that there was no evidence for their allegation. Our advice and representations later led to the police taking no further action.

Case study

Our client's father approached our firm after his son had been asked to attend a police interview in relation to an allegation of rape against a child. Our client and his family were understandably scared by the prospect of a police interview and instructed us to represent him.

Our client was a young man who had been hoping to begin studying at university and advancing his future career when these allegations were made. Due to the stress of the case, he found that he was unable to continue with his studies and struggled to make progress. We approached the case from his side and engaged with the police evidence to learn what their case was in advance of the interview. Our expert lawyers reviewed the police case and could see that there was no evidence that our client had done what he was accused of.

We represented him at the police interview and prepared detailed representations to the police and Crown Prosecution Service arguing in favour of them taking No Further Action.

Ultimately, the case was closed after the police were left with no choice but to accept that they had no evidence with which they could prove our client's guilt.

This meant our client, and his family, would be able to return to their lives without the weight of this case hanging over them. Specifically, he was able to continue with the progress he had made in establishing his own career and future beyond this investigation.
