Case study summary

Our client was a father and proud business owner. He was accused of raping, assaulting and stalking his ex-partner. He contacted our specialist rape solicitors who secured a No Further Action outcome to all allegations.

Case study

Our client was a proud family man who ran his own property business alongside his brother. During the breakdown of a long-term relationship, he was accused of rape, assault and stalking. He was arrested and interviewed at Bradford Police Station as a result.

He knew the allegations were serious and feared the prospect of the prison sentence if the case was to proceed to court. He found the allegations so traumatic that he needed medication to cope with the situation and developed symptoms of PTSD. Thankfully, he still had the good judgment to call our specialist rape lawyers.

We listened to his story and instantly recognised that the complainant's story did not add up. We put together a clear narrative, outlining that the complainant a motivation to make up these allegations in order to get our client out of their property and to get sole custody of their children.

We criticised every detail of her allegations and represented him at a police interview. During his interview, we challenged an oppressive police officer who made a series of prejudicial comments about him. These comments demonstrated her clear bias against our client.

We drafted a detailed letter to the Crown Prosecution Service, exposing the gaping holes in the complainant's story and outlining the prejudicial nature of the investigation. After receiving this, it did not take long for the CPS to decide not to charge our client and the police had no option but to discontinue the case against him.

Following the result, our client was able to go back to his life and enjoy looking after his children and running his own business with his brother.
