Case study summary

Our client was under investigation for distributing indecent images of children. Following analysis of his devices, the police confirmed that they would be taking no further action.

Case study

Our client was arrested on suspicion of distributing indecent images of children. At the time, the client was represented by another firm of solicitors. He found that they failed to communicate with him and did not take a proactive approach on the case. As such, he sort alternative representation in ourselves.

We spoke to the client at length about the allegations. He explained that the police had seized eight of his devices for inspection as they believed that he had uploaded two category A indecent videos of children to the internet. The client confirmed that he was not guilty of the alleged offence and had never uploaded any material like this.

We made contact with the client's previous solicitor's and requested the notes from the client's initial interview. This allowed us to review the police disclosure and sufficiently advise the client on the case against him. We also contacted the officer for regular updates and made it clear that any future updates be provided to ourselves rather than the client.

Throughout the investigation, we ensured to keep the client fully informed and supported him every step of the way.

Five months after his arrest, the investigation into the devices seized from the client had been completed and no indecent images of children had been found. As such, the case was closed with no further action.
